171 Deputy Michael Kennedy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if legislation will be passed to protect persons who clear footpaths of snow and ice outside their premises from being sued should an accident involving a member of the public subsequently occur; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The law in this area, which is of long standing, already achieves a reasonable balance in relation to the care that is expected of persons for their own safety and for other persons. And, while I have no proposals to amend the law, my Department continues to review its operation.
