223 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the rate of payment for community employment participants in 2009; the rate that applies in 2010; and the reason for the level of decrease. [3643/10]
View answerThe Community Employment Scheme participant payments are comprised of their Social Welfare entitlement and a weekly allowance. The Jobseeker's Allowance was reduced by 4.1% in the December budget while the CE allowance was reduced by from €24.40 to €20 per week.
The cuts in CE were necessary to fund increased activation measures in 2010 including an additional 500 CE places to bring the total number of CE places to 23,300.

View answerAs Community Employment Supervisors are employees of Community Employment scheme sponsors and the pension levy was not applied to them, the recent pay adjustments, as applied under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (No. 2) Act 2009, do not apply.
