Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason some means cannot be found to simplify the procedure whereby application for residency and qualification for citizenship can be progressed in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, who is expected to return to their home country to update their original passport notwithstanding the fact that this may not be possible for a variety of reasons; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
