146 Deputy David Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of persons serving in the Garda Reserve; when he plans to hold the next recruitment drive for new Garda reserves; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12167/10]
View answerI regret that the statistical information requested by the Deputy is not readily to hand. I will write to the Deputy as soon as it is available. However, I can assure the Deputy that recruitment to the Garda Reserve is ongoing. The moratorium on recruitment and appointments in the public service does not apply to the Garda Reserve, as members are volunteers and do not draw a salary.
