240 Deputy Richard Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if there are protocols prepared by his Department which would allow residents groups to set up closed circuit television schemes for their area when there are persistent problems of anti-social behaviour; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Section 38 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005 provides a legislative basis for the operation of closed circuit television in public places. Detailed guidelines and a Code of Practice for Community Based CCTV Systems are available on my Department's website —www.justice.ie.
