178 Deputy Alan Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a person (details supplied) who, it is alleged, suffered injuries during their arrest on 18 April 2010; if he will ensure that this person is not deported from the State until such investigation is completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have sought a report on the matter from the relevant officials in the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS). When I have received this report, I will then write to the Deputy directly.
