511 Deputy Leo Varadkar asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills his views to allowing participants on the work placement programme who lose their jobseeker’s benefit while in the programme and fail the means test for jobseeker’s allowance to continue to receive some payment while they are still participating on this programme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Work Placement Programme provides up to 9 months work experience for 2,000 unemployed individuals. The fact that a person is participating in the Programme does not in itself affect their social welfare entitlements.
