132 Deputy Paul Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Galway has been refused the supply of orthopaedic shoes and has also been refused the cost of having their ordinary shoes restyled to suit his particular handicap; if her further attention has been drawn to the fact that this person has a medical card and is recovering from an operation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I regret that due to industrial action affecting the Health Service Executive, it is not possible for the Executive to supply the information requested. If this matter remains of continuing concern to you, I would invite you to raise it with me again in due course. However, I would also recommend that you inform the individual mentioned that it is open to them to contact their local health office directly.
