243 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Justice and Law Reform the value of the pension payment on an annualised basis to the highest paid public sector pensioner in each of the public bodies under the remit of his Department and all public service pensioners not paid by the Office of the Paymaster General; the number in receipt of this level of pension; the total number in receipt of a pension in excess of €155,000 and in each bracket below this at intervals of €20,000. My Department is responsible for the payment of pensions awarded to retired members of An Garda Síochána, retired solicitors of the Legal Aid Board and retired staff of the Children's Detention Schools operated by the Irish Youth Justice Service. The current value of the highest annual pension paid from my Department is €116,250.00 and 87% of all annual pensions are less than €35,000. The following table sets out the numbers in receipt of pensions from my Department in value bands of €20,000.
