84 Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs the position regarding the south inner city drugs task force; the progress made on the task force’s strategic plan 2008 to 2012; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40313/10]
View answerEach Task Force is responsible for the development and implementation of its Strategic Plan. These plans are based on the five pillars of the National Drugs Strategy 2009-2016 — Prevention, Rehabilitation, Supply and Reduction, Treatment and Research. The Task Forces routinely report on progress through the Drugs Advisory Group. Arising from its analysis of local conditions and needs, each Task Force including the South Inner City Drugs Task Force, has developed strategic plans based on the five pillars. The South Inner City Task Force is funding 39 projects to deliver its local strategy and it reports that progress has been made under all pillars. I will be meeting the Chairs of all of the Task Forces shortly to review progress.
