200 Deputy Jimmy Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of money that has been paid annually since 2002 to registered charities; if she will specify which charities, on the subject of institutional and religious abuse and the way the Government has monitored the spend of these funds; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Payments were sanctioned by the Department and made by the then North Eastern Health Board (now the Health Service Executive) from a Central Development Fund. Since 2005, the full responsibility for such funding has transferred to the HSE, and my Department has asked the HSE to respond to the Deputy in this regard.
