286 Deputy Dan Neville asked the Minister for Justice and Law Reform the training given to trainee gardaí to deal with suicide incidents, including approach to next-of-kin. [3285/11]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that in the existing Student/Probationer programme, suicide related issues are dealt with under the ‘Social and Psychological' study area on Phases I and III. The training includes responding in a sensitive and appropriate manner to those who may be suicidal and also to the families and loved ones of those who have committed suicide.
