76 Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will confirm when he will allocate the necessary funding to ensure that construction works on the breakwater at Greencastle, County Donegal can recommence and when the project will be completed. [6279/11]
View answerGreencastle harbour is owned by Donegal County Council and responsibility for the maintenance and development of the harbour rests with that local authority in the first instance. My Department has, however, in recent years, project managed works on phase one of the Greencastle Harbour development project on behalf of Donegal County Council as well as providing funding. Any application received from Donegal County Council for funding, under the 2011 Fishery Harbours and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme, to continue phase one of the Greencastle development project will be considered in the context of available exchequer funding and competing national priorities.
