View answerThe land in question has been inspected and found to be partially within a site designated as a candidate Special Area of Conservation. No letter of offer has yet issued and it is not possible to say at this stage when the purchase can be finalised.
However, my Department will write to the applicant in the coming weeks to outline his options regarding compensation in light of recent policy decisions in regard to turf-cutting on designated sites.
