View answerNutrition labelling of pre-packaged foodstuffs in the EU is governed by EU Council Directive 90/496. Currently there is no legislative basis available to require restaurants or other food outlets to show the calorific content of the foods served. My Department does recognise the benefits associated with the Count Me In campaign and is currently considering how the Department might assist in broadening the participation rate of food outlets in the campaign.
