72 Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy asked the Minister for Social Protection when a decision will issue on a carer’s allowance application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8115/11]
View answerOn 16 September 2010, the person concerned was refused carer's allowance on the grounds that the Department's medical assessor had expressed the opinion that the care recipient is not so disabled as to require full-time care and attention as prescribed in regulations. She was notified of this decision, the reason for it and of her right to appeal to the social welfare appeals office. Representations were sent in on her behalf and forwarded to the appeals office on the 9 March 2011. The appeals office will contact her directly if an appeal is opened in this case.
