340 Deputy Dan Neville asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport when he will provide the necessary funding that will allow Limerick County Council to operate the local authority grant scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9373/11]

Due to a significant reduction in the budgetary allocation to the built heritage, the operation of the Local Authority Conservation Grants Scheme has been suspended. Limited funding is being provided through a "Structures at Risk Fund" in 2011, to assist with works to safeguard structures protected under the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2010. Details of the operation of the fund issued to each local authority. The closing date for the receipt of applications under this scheme has passed. A decision on individual funding allocations will be taken following an assessment of applications.

It is proposed to undertake a review of the operation of Part IV (Architectural Heritage) of the Planning and Development Act 2000. This review will include an examination of the funding provided towards the conservation and protection of the architectural heritage.
