106 Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Finance the position regarding the Office of Public Works survey work on a river (details supplied) in County Kerry which causes flooding in the locality; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14253/11]
View answerThe Office of Public Works is not engaged in a survey of the river concerned. However, this office allocated total funding of €27,000 to Kerry County Council under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works Scheme to undertake a flood assessment and hydraulic study of the Sneem and Ardsheelhane River catchment areas in order to assess the flooding problem. A pre-feasibility study has now been completed by the consultants appointed by Kerry County Council for this purpose, and the resultant final report is currently being examined by the Council.
