Questions (575)

Simon Harris

Question:

590 Deputy Simon Harris asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to a case of unfair dismissal successfully taken by a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow against an agency under his remit; the implication of this ruling and the fact that the ruling, given by both the Employment Appeals Tribunal and then the court, has yet to be actioned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised that the case referred to by the Deputy concerns a complaint to the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the Unfair Dismissals Acts, 1977 to 2007 against an organisation which was allocated funding by the East Coast Regional Drugs Task Force to deliver addiction services in Wicklow until the end of December 2010. The implementation of the findings of the Tribunal are a matter for the organisation concerned, which is an independent company limited by guarantee and not an agency of my Department.
