There have been no changes made to the rules concerning the assessment of mortgage interest supplement recently.

238 Deputy David Stanton asked the Minister for Social Protection the way in which a supplementary welfare allowance mortgage interest supplement rate was calculated for a person (details supplied) in County Cork; the reason this payment was recently reduced; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive (HSE) has advised that the person concerned has been awarded mortgage interest supplement of €35.90 per week which is the full amount payable based on the household income which is comprised of One-parent Family Payment and maintenance received.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) has advised that the person concerned has been awarded mortgage interest supplement of €23.80 per week which is the full amount payable based on the household income from earnings, Jobseekers Allowance and Carers Allowance.
