86 Deputy Jonathan O’Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he is satisfied that the law as it stands is sufficient to penalise journalists or persons, who engage in absolute untruths; if not, his plans to introduce legislation to address same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Comprehensive provisions in the area of law referred to by the Deputy are already contained in the Defamation Act 2009. I have no proposals for change in this area.
