Because of the small number of bankruptcies at present, 29 in 2010 and 30 so far in 2011, the cost of operating the Office of the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy within the Courts Service is small. However, substantial changes in the personal insolvency regime are being considered in the context of my Department's development of proposals for a Personal Insolvency Bill. The details, including those in relation to the impact on costs, will be announced by way of publication of the heads of the Bill in the near future.
