96 Deputy Catherine Byrne asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht further to Parliamentary Question Nos. 609 of 9 July 2009 and 123 of 5 November 2009, if funding will be made available to upgrade the canal walkway in an area of Dublin (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI am informed by Waterways Ireland that the upgrading of the stretch of canal referred to by the Deputy was to be included as part of a significant redevelopment being considered in the area by Dublin City Council. However, this redevelopment has not proceeded. I am also advised by Waterways Ireland that funding has not been allocated to this project at present. Waterways Ireland will continue to maintain canal walkways in Dublin, within the resources available to it.
