Question:147 Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Finance his views on a matter regarding mortgage interest relief in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2301/12]
View answerThe position is as I stated in my Budget speech, that the Government has now fulfilled its commitment contained in the Programme for Government to increase the rate of mortgage interest relief to 30 per cent for first-time buyers who took out their first mortgage in the period 2004 to 2008. I will be looking at the technical detail of the legislation in preparation for the Finance Bill and I will take the highlighted case into consideration in that regard.
