346 Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for Social Protection the salaries and allowances paid to her private secretary and to the Secretary General of her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5034/12]
View answerThe salary paid to the Secretary General of my Department is €191,417. The Secretary General is not in receipt of an allowance. In my Department, the Private Secretary to the Minister is a civil servant at Higher Executive Officer level. The appropriate salary scale is €43,816 —€55,415, with an allowance of €19,653 per annum. The salaries and allowances payable to civil servants are in accordance with those outlined by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
