87 Deputy Robert Dowds asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will consider changing the deadline for applications to the Central Applications Office for third-level courses from January, in view of the fact that anecdotal evidence suggests that January is a difficult month for families to find the money for the application. The higher education institutions have delegated to the CAO the task of processing applications to their undergraduate courses. Neither my Department nor the Higher Education Authority has any role in relation to the operation of the CAO including the setting of deadlines.
