365 Deputy Jonathan O’Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the statutory basis which allows Garda escorts for transporting commercial explosives on a non-public duty basis; the body that bears the cost of Garda involvement in such activities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can inform the Deputy that under section 30 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, the Garda Commissioner may charge for certain policing services. The question of charges for the type of services referred to by the Deputy is under review at present.
