201 Deputy Robert Dowds asked the Minister for Health which of the seven new directorates which he intends to establish as part of reforming the health service will be responsible for public nursing homes. [7167/12]
View answerThe Minister for Health will be bringing legislation forward involving significant changes in the governance of the HSE. The legislation will abolish the Board of the HSE and will replace the Board structure with a Directorate structure. In tandem with the proposed legal structures, new administrative arrangements will be put in place within the HSE which will reflect the need for greater operational management focus on the delivery of key services, including HSE residential services for older people.
The legislation to give effect to these changes will be given a clear priority by the Government in 2012. Following that legislation, the positioning of all services will be determined by the Minister.
