57 Deputy Seamus Kirk asked the Minister for Education and Skills the schools that are being considered for the 2012-13 school buildings programme in County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6996/12]
View answerOn the 19th December 2011, I announced details of 56 major school building projects to commence construction in 2012 as part of the €430 million education infrastructure plan for 2012 representing the first phase of a €2 billion five-year plan for major school building projects. Information in respect of the plan for 2012 along with all assessed applications for major capital works is available on the Department's website at www.education.ie. Following on from this, I will shortly publish a five year plan outlining the school building projects to be constructed in that time. All school building projects, including school projects in County Louth, in the Department’s school building programme are being considered in the context of the plan. In view of the need to ensure that every child has access to a school place, the delivery of major school projects required to meet demographic demands will be the main focus for capital investment in the coming years.
58 Deputy Seamus Kirk asked the Minister for Education and Skills the position regarding the new green field site next to Calvary graveyard in Drogheda, County Louth; the target completion date for the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6998/12]
