209 Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs in view of the welcome announcement on her commitment to develop a national early years strategy, her plans around the scope of consultation procedures that will inform the strategy to ensure its success; the elements of the early childhood sector and relevant agencies that will be involved in this process; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Early Years Strategy will be developed during 2012 and will cover a range of issues affecting children in their first years of life. There will be a consultation process later in the year and I can assure the Deputy that key stakeholders will be consulted. The details of who is to be consulted and how the process will be managed is currently under consideration.
