111 Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will discuss with the Department Finance the issue of the provision of student loan by banks; and if there are any situations in which banks are refusing to hand out student loans at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A range of student loan facilities is currently offered by banks on an independent commercial basis. My Department is not informed of specific arrangements or changes in the application of loan criteria by the banks in relation to student loans.
