392 Deputy James Bannon asked the Minister for Social Protection the reason a person (details supplied) in County Longford has been refused assistance in terms of mortgage interest supplement, under the supplementary welfare allowance scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The person concerned submitted an application for Mortgage Interest Supplement on 23rd May, 2012. The Department refused payment of the Supplement as the person's means exceeded the limits prescribed for the scheme.
