38 Deputy Dessie Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that under the rental accommodation scheme landlords can decide to sell property which is part of the tenancy agreement; and the measures he plans to put in place to protect tenants and ensure more secure housing conditions. In general, accommodation provided under the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) in governed by the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, as amended. Under this legislation a landlord is permitted to sell a rented property under certain conditions and subject to compliance with the provisions of the Act and the terms of the RAS agreement.
