117 Deputy Pearse Doherty asked the Minister for Finance if he will confirm the projected spend by the National Assets Management Agency on its relationship management department for the full year 2012 and 2013; and if he will confirm the existing and projected headcount for the department and the purpose and objectives of this department. View answerI can remind the Deputy that all NAMA staff are employed by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and the costs are recharged to NAMA by the NTMA as a service provider. Staff-related costs of the total 2011 recharge from the NTMA will be provided in NAMA's Annual Report which will be published later this month. The staff related costs of the total recharge from the NTMA will be presented on an overall basis. The break out of this information any further into costs or manpower or the provision of separate information in relation to individual units (particularly smaller units) would lead to the identification of specific individuals, which is prohibited by restrictions placed on the release of personal information under the Data Protection Act.
The function of relationship management, which relates to the Agency's engagement with members of the Oireachtas and other key stakeholders, is carried out by the Strategy and Communications Division within NAMA. The Strategy and Communications Division is responsible for strategic analysis of the NAMA Portfolio and for developing strategies to maximise the return on NAMA's acquired bank assets. The Division also has responsibility for managing NAMA's communications activity, including the co-ordination of the Agency's engagement with State agencies, relevant statutory and non-statutory bodies, the media, and the general public.
