536 Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will confirm he has been contacted by South Dublin County Council in respect of the council designating a site in Tallaght west, Dublin, for a new Garda station; and the consultations that will take place on the matter. In accordance with the provisions of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, decisions in relation to the opening of Garda stations are a matter, in the first instance, for the Garda Commissioner.

I have not had any contact with South Dublin County Council in relation to this matter.
