1935. Deputy Anne Ferris asked the Minister for Transport; Tourism and Sport the steps he is taking to ensure that State boards have at least 40% of each gender, as provided for in the programme for Government; the percentage at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [39161/12]
View answerThe commitment in the Programme for Government is to have at least 40% of each gender on State boards. Since my appointment as Minister in March 2011 the percentage of women on State Boards under the aegis of my Department has risen from 21.3% to 26.3%.My intention is to continue to work towards progressing the commitment in the Programme for Government in the context of future appointments to State boards for which I have responsibility.
