View answerThe regular preparation and publication of actuarial assessments of public service pension costs is an important part of policy formulation. In this regard, I believe work should begin as soon as possible on a new actuarial assessment of public service pension costs, taking account of the recent significant changes in public service pay, pensions and numbers. Using the analysis in the 2009 Comptroller and Auditor General’s Special Report on Public Service Pensions as a starting point, my Department will shortly discuss the most appropriate approach in this regard with that Office.
