Deputy Michael Creed asked the Minister for Defence if he will publish details of all allowances paid to staff in his Department; the business case made by his Department in respect of these allowances to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform; the cost of each individual allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department did not submit a business case to the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform to retain the above allowances. The bulk of these allowances are common to many Departments and were considered centrally as part of the overall review of allowances and premium payments.
