616. Deputy Luke 'Ming' Flanagan asked the Minister for Transport; Tourism and Sport if he will list all the current positions, where the appointment was made by his Department held by retired senior civil servants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [42673/12]
View answerI appointed Mr Sean Benton, a former Chairman of the Office of Public Works, as Chairman of the National Sports Campus Development Authority. The Government, on my recommendation, appointed Mr Kevin Bonner, a former Secretary General of the Department of Enterprise and Employment, as Chairman of Dublin Bus and member of the CIE Board.
Both of these appointments are to non-executive roles and do not command a salary. Board fees are paid. Apart from these appointments, neither I nor the Ministers of State at my Department have appointed any retired senior civil servant to a position within my Department or any agency or State board under my aegis.
