I propose to take Questions Nos. 125 and 126 together.

The introduction of a third band of employers contribution on weekly income exceeding €1,923 per week at the rate of 11.75%, 12.75%, 13.75%, 14.75% and 15.75% is estimated to yield €18.3 million, €36.6 million, €54.9 million, €73.2 million, and €91.5 million, respectively, in additional funding in a full year for the Social Insurance Fund.

The Department has paid an Exceptional Needs payment in relation to the arrears owed to the person concerned. However, a housing needs assessment is required from the client in order to ensure that a future entitlement exists. The person concerned has been given an additional 12 week period in order to obtain this document.

An application for domiciliary care allowance (DCA) was received from the person concerned on 30 August 2012. The application has been forwarded to one of the Department’s Medical Assessors for their medical opinion. Upon receipt of this opinion, a decision will issue to the customer. It can currently take up to 8 weeks to process a DCA application.
