Enhanced rates of capitation funding are paid in respect of children with special educational needs who attend special schools or special classes attached to mainstream schools.The following table outlines these rates and the total expenditure in recent years. Information going back to the introduction of special needs funding many decades ago is not readily available and would involve an inordinate amount of administrative time to compile in view of the lengthy period involved.
