Deputy Patrick O'Donovan asked the Minister for Social Protection the position regarding a carer's allowance application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; if she will provide a timeframe as to when it is likely a decision will issue and the reason the application is taking so long to process; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerI confirm that the department received an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on the 9th January 2012. The application has been examined by a deciding officer who has sent a request to the person in question for further information needed to process the application. Once all the necessary information has been returned to the department, a deciding officer will process the application and a full decision will issue directly to the person in question.
