I confirm that the department received an application for carer’s allowance from the person in question on the 9th December 2011. The person concerned was contacted on the 3rd November 2012 requesting additional information. Once all the information requested has been received the claim will be processed and the person concerned will be notified directly of the outcome. Carer’s allowance can be paid if all the qualifying conditions are met. One of the qualifying conditions is that the carer must be caring for the person on a full-time basis. A carer may attend an educational or training course or participate in voluntary or community-based activity for up to 15 hours a week, provided they make adequate provision for the care of the person in their absence.
