I wish to advise the Deputy that the Geological Survey of Ireland is a project partner in Tellus Border, a geo-environmental mapping project of six counties in the border region of Ireland. This cross-border initiative between the Geological Surveys of Ireland and Northern Ireland will produce detailed geo-environmental data of the border region and join these with data in Northern Ireland to produce the first seamless cross-border maps. The project is funded to the value of £4.1m (c. €5m) by the EU INTERREG IVA programme, the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland.
