29. Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Health the way he will achieve the charging of all private patients in public hospitals; the steps and legislation needed to achieve this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7461/13]
View answerAs part of Budget 2013, it was announced that provision would be brought forward to enable public hospitals to charge all private patients in public hospitals. New primary legislation will provide for an updated framework for the charging of private in-patients in public hospitals. The legislation is currently being developed by the Department. It is my intention to publish the legislation shortly during the current session of the Dáil.
