Guidance on the specification of windows to be installed in all school building projects is set out in Technical Guidance Document TGD021-1 which is available on my Department's website. These guidelines state the minimum standards to be used in the design and specification of new or replacement windows for use in educational facilities and should be read in conjunction with other relevant design guidance, also available on my Departments website. These guidelines do not set out the standard required for existing windows. These standards apply to all Primary and Post-primary construction projects funded in part or in whole by the Department of Education and Skills.
