159. Deputy Brian Stanley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will detail the employment levels in the meat processing sector and the value of processed meat exports. [9062/13]
View answerEmployment statistics for the meat processing sector are published by the CSO in its Census of Industrial Production (CIP). The CIP is an annual survey and the most recent available data, which relates to 2010, indicates that there are around 12,000 persons employed in 123 enterprises engaged in the processing and preserving of meat and the production of meat products.
A sectoral breakdown of the value of Irish processed meat exports in recent years is presented tabular format below.
