View answerThe HSE provides orthodontic treatment based on clinical need to those who have been assessed and referred for treatment before their 16th birthday. Orthodontic referrals are generally received via the HSE’s Public Dental Service school screening programme. Although adult medical card holders can access a range of dental services and treatments under the Dental Treatment Service Scheme, orthodontics is not among the services available.
