268. Deputy Dara Calleary asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will explain if, in the circumstances of two or more children from one family attending third level education who are entitled to the special rate of grant based on their parents' earnings, the rate is divided between the students or are each eligible for the full amount; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the case of a dependent candidate, the reckonable income taken into account is that of the candidate and of the candidate's parents or legal guardian. The value of the grant is determined by the awarding authority having regarding to the reckonable income in each case.
