On 7th May this year members of the Government, namely An Taoiseach, the Minister for Finance and myself, met with representatives of the Irish Tobacco Manufacturing Advisory Committee at the Department of the Taoiseach. I was accompanied at the meeting by an advisor and an official from my Department. The focus of the meeting was on the illicit trade in tobacco products in Ireland and, in particular, measures taken to curb such criminal activity.
